Bucks County Bonsai Workshops

We have workshops perfectly suited for every experience level. Beginners will develop the foundational skills they need to care for their first bonsai. Experienced bonsai enthusiasts will build on their knowledge and improve their technique, allowing them to take their bonsai hobby to the next level.


All workshops are personally conducted by Scott White, owner of Bucks County Bonsai. Scott has more than 30 years of experience growing and caring for bonsai.


We have 5 different workshops available. See below for descriptions and workshop dates. Level 1 is a group setting, level 2, 3 and forest workshops are a private setting.




Bonsai Basics Beginner - Level 1

Create your own bonsai during this two-hour workshop. This beginner workshop teaches the principles of creating a tropical bonsai from nursery stock. This includes a two to four-year-old tropical (indoor) tree (several varieties to choose from), bonsai training pot, bonsai soil, training wire, leaf pruner, chopstick, slow-release fertilizer, and fresh moss to complement your tree. Also included is a "Bonsai Basics" information packet/ survival guide for caring for your tree. Workshop.

Cost $85 per person

Bonsai Basics - Level 2 

Create your own bonsai during this two-hour workshop. This beginner to intermediate workshop teaches the principles of creating a tropical bonsai from nursery stock. This includes a four to six-year-old tropical (indoor) tree (several varieties to choose from), bonsai training pot, bonsai soil, training wire, leaf pruner, chopstick, slow-release fertilizer, and fresh moss to complement your tree. Also included is a "Bonsai Basics" information packet/ survival guide for caring for your tree. Workshop

Bonsai Skills Development - 

Level 3

Create your own bonsai during this two-hour workshop. This advanced workshop refines the principles of creating a tropical bonsai from nursery stock. Wiring, pruning, and ramification will be hot topics. This includes a five to ten-year-old tropical (indoor) tree (several varieties to choose from), bonsai training pot, bonsai soil, training wire, leaf pruner, chopstick, slow-release fertilizer, and fresh moss to complement your tree. Includes a free $20 coupon redeemable at our nursery. 

Cost $150 per person

3 Tree Forest, Indoor Tropical Bonsai Workshop

"Make your own Bonsai Forest" This workshop includes: Three tropical trees, to be chosen a week prior to the event, bonsai training pot designed for forest plantings. Various mosses, rocks, and other earthy items will be available to naturalize your forest. All supplies needed to create your forest are included.

A hands-on demonstration is given by Scott White, owner of Bucks County Bonsai.

Cost $125 per person

5 Tree Forest, Indoor Tropical Bonsai Workshop

"Make your own Bonsai Forest" This workshop includes: Five tropical trees, to be chosen a week prior to the event, bonsai training pot designed for forest plantings. Various mosses, rocks, and other earthy items will be available to naturalize your forest. All supplies needed to create your forest are included.
